# 2027 BMW iX3 Lands in Canada With Nearly 700 km of Range and a Surprisingly Competitive Price

BMW’s next-generation electric SUV is arriving with a combination of long-range capability and surprisingly attainable pricing. The 2027 BMW iX3 has now been officially priced for Canada at C$75,900, while delivering an impressive NRCan certified range of up to 698 km on a single charge.

The new iX3 marks the debut of the automaker’s highly anticipated Neue Klasse platform, a new EV architecture designed to improve efficiency, charging performance, software integration, and driving dynamics.

## Nearly 700 km of Range

The biggest surprise may be the official range figure. BMW had previously estimated the iX3 would deliver around 650 km on a full charge, but the final certified number came in significantly higher at 698 km.

That makes the iX3 one of the longest-range midsize electric SUVs on the market, trailing only much larger and considerably more expensive models like the Cadillac Escalade IQ and Lucid Gravity.

For Canadian drivers, especially those dealing with long highway trips and cold winter conditions, the additional range is a big bonus. Fewer charging stops, improved winter usability, and better flexibility for road trips are all likely to appeal to buyers still hesitant about switching to an EV.

BMW says the improved range comes from advances in aerodynamics, energy management, battery technology, and drivetrain efficiency.

## BMW’s Fastest-Charging EV Yet

The 2027 iX3 also introduces BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology paired with a 108.7 kWh battery pack. The dual-motor setup produces 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque, giving the SUV plenty of performance to match its efficiency claims.

Then there is other type of speed – charging speed. BMW says the iX3 supports DC fast charging up to 400 kW, which would make it one of the fastest-charging EVs available in Canada once compatible infrastructure becomes more common.

While few public chargers today can fully take advantage of those speeds, the capability helps future-proof the vehicle as ultra-fast charging networks continue expanding.

## Neue Klasse Interior Debuts Panoramic iDrive

Inside, BMW is introducing an entirely new digital cabin layout. The iX3 will be the first production vehicle to feature BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system, which stretches key driver information across the base of the windshield from pillar to pillar.

The cabin also features a 17.9-inch touchscreen powered by BMW Operating System X, along with updated ConnectedDrive services and a redesigned user interface.

BMW says the new “Heart of Joy” control unit integrates the powertrain, traction, and chassis systems to maintain the brand’s traditional driving feel despite the transition to a fully electric platform.

“We are thrilled to offer Canadian customers more range, next-generation battery and electric motors and uncompromising BMW driving dynamics,” said Andrew Scott. “Exceeding our preliminary range target while introducing advanced technologies at this price point is a testament to the progress of our electrification strategy.”

Production of the iX3 will take place at BMW’s new Debrecen plant in Hungary, with Canadian deliveries scheduled to begin in fall 2026.
