Fourth, build an innovative ecosystem, promote industrial cooperation, and strengthen application promotion.

They stated that in recent weeks of discussions with potential lenders, SoftBank and the bankers helping it seek this margin loan have discussed a target amount as low as $6 billion. Discussions are ongoing, and details, including the final loan size, are still subject to change. The sources requested anonymity because the matter is not public. After OpenAI completed a record $122 billion funding round in March, its post-money valuation was $852 billion.

## DeFi Hot Topics

**1\. Mantle Token Holders Approve 30,000 ETH Credit Line to Aave to Help AAVE Cope with rsETH Attack**

On May 8th, Mantle token holders passed the MIP-34 proposal, approving a credit line of up to 30,000 ETH (approximately $68 million) to the Aave DAO. This move aims to help resolve potential bad debt issues in Aave V3 caused by the April rsETH attack, which is estimated to have resulted in bad debts between $123.7 million and $230.1 million.

**2\. Polygon Bor v2.7.3 Released, Including Improvements to Private Transaction Relay**

On May 8th, the Polygon PoS network execution layer client Bor released version 2.7.3, applicable to the Amoy testnet and mainnet. This is a maintenance update, including improvements and bug fixes for pre-confirmation and private transaction relay. This update has a significant impact on private transaction users. Private transactions will be subject to a mandatory 10-minute time-to-live (TTL). If a private transaction is not included in a block within 10 minutes, it will be removed from the private pool and enter the public network. If a transaction is not included, users can increase the probability of it being included by sending an alternative transaction with a higher transaction fee.

**3\. LayerZero Exposed for Using Multisignature Wallets to Trade Meme Coins, and Default Library Contract Upgrade Mechanism Poses Risks**

On May 8th, according to market news, LayerZero Labs co-founder and CEO Bryan Pellegrino had a heated debate with security researchers in the ETHSecurity Community Telegram group. The core controversy included: because LayerZero Labs could immediately upgrade a default library contract without time limits to forge messages (similar to the rsETH hack), LZOFT, worth over $3 billion, is currently at risk of being stolen; researcher Banteg pointed out that mainstream projects such as Ethena and EtherFi were still using this default library contract weeks ago, and $178 million in value remains exposed to risk, these funds originating from projects still using this default library.

On-chain data shows that LayerZero Labs multisignature signers participated in non-multisignature signing activities such as Meme coin transactions, DEX exchanges, and cross-chain bridging. This means that the production environment multisignature keys were connected to websites, increasing the risk of phishing attacks. Regarding the LayerZero multisignature signers using production environment keys for transaction activities, Bryan confirmed that the transactions were completed by members of the multisignature team, but denied that they were "Meme coin transactions," explaining that they were "testing PEPE on the LZOFT token standard," and stated that the members involved have been removed. Bryan also advised projects to "directly fix the configuration" instead of using the default configuration to reduce risk. Banteg subsequently flagged a long list of LayerZero users still using the default library contracts, pointing out that these projects should migrate to the fixed configuration as soon as possible.

**4\. Bitcoin and Ethereum options with a notional value of $2.01 billion will expire and settle today**

On May 8th, Greeks.live posted on the X platform that 20,000 BTC options will expire, with a put-call ratio of 0.73, a maximum price threshold of $79,500, and a notional value of $1.6 billion. 182,000 ETH options will expire, with a put-call ratio of 0.93, a maximum price threshold of $2,350, and a notional value of $410 million. This week, Bitcoin rose from $75,000 to $82,000, before falling back last night. Despite the positive market performance, market sentiment remained relatively calm. The main term options and short-term RV remained unchanged from last week, while the short-term RV increased slightly. Bitcoin's main short-term IV is around 35%, and ETH's main short-term IV is around 50%, with slight decreases in the medium and long term.

... Looking at key options data, Skew has remained relatively stable with a very slight increase, and market sentiment remains neutral. Only 5% of options expired this week, indicating extremely low activity, and futures trading volume has also reached historical lows. Open interest was around 20% at the end of May and around 30% at the end of June, with relatively inactive block trades – all signs of consolidation. Bitcoin performed well in both price and hype during the second quarter of this year, but overall market enthusiasm remains low. Currently, focusing primarily on Bitcoin and allocating some medium- to long-term options positions is reasonable. Additionally, investing in some high-quality altcoins seems to offer good value.

**5****. Arbitrum DAO Approves Unfreezing of 30,765.67 ETH Frozen by Arbitrum Security Committee**

On May 8th, the Arbitrum DAO approved a vote to unfreeze 30,765.67 ETH frozen by the Arbitrum Security Committee due to the KelpDAO vulnerability attack on April 18th. The vote passed on May 8th with 90.96% in favor and almost no dissenting votes. These funds will be incorporated into DeFi United's coordinated recovery plan to restore rsETH collateral. This fund is jointly controlled by four signatories: Aave Labs, KelpDAO, EtherFi, and Certora.
