# Concerns on the island: "Apple's reliance on TSMC will come to an end"

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Intel has reached a preliminary agreement with Apple to manufacture chips used in Apple products. Taiwanese media have stated that Apple's current complete reliance on TSMC will become a thing of the past. The Wall Street Journal noted that Intel and Apple have been in intensive negotiations for over a year and finalized a formal contract in recent months. However, it remains unclear which products Intel will manufacture chips for Apple. Taiwan's Economic Daily reported on the 10th that Intel is rapidly expanding production, with a new wafer fab in Chandler, Arizona, entering mass production using the most advanced 18A process, although it is still not stable enough. U.S. chip analyst Baji Lin predicts that Apple is most likely to wait for Intel's next process, 18A-P, which could enter mass production as early as next year
