The company stated that the increase in first-quarter revenue was mainly due to the robust development of the automotive electronics business, as well as diversification of the customer base and growth in new customers. The gross profit margin for the period rose to approximately 3.61%, compared to about 3.17% in the same period last year, primarily due to the shift towards high-profit areas such as automotive electronics, smart manufacturing, and production line equipment/robots, while actively exiting unprofitable or low-profit businesses. In addition, government subsidies for the first quarter increased to approximately USD 1.4 million, compared to about USD 0.7 million in the same period last year; interest expenses decreased to approximately USD 4.7 million, down from about USD 7.8 million in the same period last year, mainly due to reduced bank borrowing and interest rate cuts. However, the group recorded an exchange loss of approximately USD 8 million in the first quarter, compared to an exchange gain of about USD 2.9 million in the same period last year. Operating expenses for the period increased from USD 34.5 million in the same period last year to approximately USD 37.5 million, mainly due to ongoing investments in automation, robotics, Edge AI-related technologies, and advanced manufacturing capabilities. The company expects to achieve slight revenue growth year-on-year in the first half of 2026, with financial performance improving compared to the same period last year. FIH's stock price opened higher on Monday but fell throughout the day, closing at HKD 27.6 at noon, down 2.27%.
