# U.S. Futures, European Stocks Decline as U.S.-Iran Stalemate Weighs on Mood

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 fell 1.1% in morning trading. Greggs rose 5.9% and Intertek Group climbed 4.8%. On the other hand, Prosus dropped 7%, and WPP PLC lost 4.9%. The FTSE 100 lost 1%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.9% and Germany's DAX dropped 1.1%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.3% to 95.06.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 2% to $106.25 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 2.4% to $100.44 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 2% to 47.15 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 4 basis points to 3.087% from 3.043%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.435% from 4.413%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.5%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 0.3%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.2%.
