Data Centres In British Columbia Canada’s federal government in Ottawa has announced plans to build a large-scale artificial intelligence (A.I.) data centre in British Columbia. Government officials say the A.I. data centre project will help boost Canada’s sovereign computing and infrastructure. The A.I. data centre is being built in collaboration with Canadian telecommunications firm Telus (TSE: $T). The project will involve three facilities in B.C. and is part of a federal government initiative announced last year to identify and boost large-scale sovereign A.I. data centres. Specifically, Telus will expand its existing data centre in Kamloops and develop two new facilities in and around downtown Vancouver. The Kamloops expansion and the Vancouver facilities will all be completed and come online by 2029, said the government. Telus’ stock has declined 23% over the last 12 months and is down 35% in the past five years. The company’s shares currently trade at $17.18 each in Toronto. ### Related Stocks - [TU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/TU.US.md) ## Related News & Research - [TELUS To Invest C$14 Bln In Alberta Through 2030](https://longbridge.com/en/news/287088760.md) - [Telus And Government Of Canada Advance Work To Scale Canada's Sovereign Ai Infrastructure](https://longbridge.com/en/news/285975202.md) - [Ottawa Bancorp declares quarterly cash dividend of $0.11 per share](https://longbridge.com/en/news/287112130.md) - [The defense in short-seller Andrew Left's trial asks: Where does trading end and fraud begin?](https://longbridge.com/en/news/286810875.md) - [Rigetti shares drop after Q1 growth fails to ease concerns](https://longbridge.com/en/news/286968241.md)
