This model will be larger and more upscale than the first-generation Yuan Plus (Atto 3), which will not be sold alongside it in New Zealand. The new Yuan Plus features significant upgrades, including a longer wheelbase, enhanced battery technology, and improved interior space. It will be available in two RWD variants in China, offering ranges of 540 and 630 kilometers, with a launch date of May 21." datetime: "2026-05-13T13:00:00.000Z" locales: - [zh-CN](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/286267405.md) - [en](https://longbridge.com/en/news/286267405.md) - [zh-HK](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/286267405.md) --- # BYD plans to launch new Yuan Plus overseas as Atto 5 New Zealand is the first country where BYD has confirmed plans to launch the all-new Yuan Plus as the Atto 5, with the launch scheduled for 2027, according to a report from Auto Trader NZ. The move would clearly position it as a larger and more upmarket model compared to the first-generation Yuan Plus, called the Atto 3 in most international markets. While the new name leaves the door open for BYD to continue selling the first-generation Yuan Plus as the Atto 3 alongside the latest model, the company has no such plans in New Zealand. Warren Willmot, the general manager of the Chinese automaker’s local subsidiary, has confirmed that the Atto 5 will replace the Atto 3 in the country. The strategy for European markets remains under wraps, but a launch before 2027 seems unlikely. The all-new Yuan Plus measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, making it 210 mm longer, 20 mm wider, and 60 mm taller than the first-generation model. Its wheelbase, at 2,770 mm, is 50 mm longer. The maximum wheel size has also increased from 18 to 19 inches. The redesigned model offers a 180-litre frunk, 39 interior storage spaces, and 750 litres of boot space. Besides the significant increase in dimensions, a major upgrade in the all-new Yuan Plus is the adoption of the second-generation Blade Battery with Flash Charging support. In China, BYD plans to offer two RWD variants at launch: one with a 200 kW motor and a 57.545 kWh battery, and another with a 240 kW motor and a 68.547 kWh battery. The former delivers a range of 540 kilometres, while the latter offers 630 kilometres, both according to the CLTC standard. According to a recent report from Autohome, BYD will launch the all-new Yuan Plus in China on 21 May. The company will equip it with features such as a 256-colour ambient lighting system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 1 m² panoramic sunroof, a 16-speaker Dynaudio sound system, a hot and cold refrigerator, a 50-watt wireless smartphone charger, and seven airbags. bydukmedia.com ### Related Stocks - [BYDDF.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/BYDDF.US.md) - [01211.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/01211.HK.md) - [002594.CN](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/002594.CN.md) - [BYDDY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/BYDDY.US.md) - [516380.CN](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/516380.CN.md) - [515030.CN](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/515030.CN.md) - [ATHM.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/ATHM.US.md) - [02518.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/02518.HK.md) - [HYDD.SG](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/HYDD.SG.md) - [81211.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/81211.HK.md) ## Related News & Research - [BYD is upgrading its top selling EVs with 5-min flash charging and nearly 400 miles of range](https://longbridge.com/en/news/285983391.md) - [BYD expands flash charging lineup with new Fang Cheng Bao off-road SUVs](https://longbridge.com/en/news/286268742.md) - [BYD puts 500th electric bus on Japanese roads](https://longbridge.com/en/news/286255793.md) - [Chinese EV Maker BYD Eyeing-Up Factory Deals in European Expansion Drive](https://longbridge.com/en/news/286252348.md) - [BYD launches paid screen upgrade service as China EV price war squeezes profits](https://longbridge.com/en/news/285891603.md)
