# Watch live: Turner testifies before Senate on HUD budget request

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner will testify before a Senate Appropriations Committee panel on President Trump‘s fiscal 2027 budget request.

The Trump administration is seeking $73.5 billion for HUD in 2027, focusing primarily on tackling homelessness and affordability concerns, according to the White House.

It also comes as lawmakers have been pressed to pass a sweeping housing affordability bill that has stalled in the House amid divisions over certain provisions, including a ban on large institutional investors buying single-family homes. The lower chamber on Thursday put out an amended bill,and a vote is expected next week.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
