# BYD in talks with automakers over European factory takeovers

BYD, which has expanded its new energy vehicle exports over the past two years, is considering acquiring factories in Europe from other automakers and has been in talks with several companies, according to sources. An executive in charge of overseas market expansion at BYD revealed in an interview that the company is negotiating not only with Stellantis, but also with other automakers over the potential takeover of a factory. The executive also said BYD is looking for any available factory opportunities across Europe in order to utilize existing production capacity.

According to BYD’s production and sales reports, the company’s monthly exports of new energy vehicles have exceeded 100,000 units for six consecutive months since last November. In the first four months of this year, BYD exported 456,263 vehicles, sharply up from 285,170 units during the same period last year. \[TechWeb, in Chinese\]
