# Utilities Down as Treasury Yields Rise — Utilities Roundup

Shares of power producers slid as Treasury yields rose sharply.

Utilities are particularly sensitive to bond-market moves because generators often carry a high level of debt and also compete with the Treasury market for the dollars of yield-seeking investors.

The SPDR Select Sector Utilities exchange-traded fund, which had been among the leading sectors on the stock market for much of the year, fell by more than 2%, trimming its gains for 2026 to under 2%.
