# Market Chatter: Bio-Rad Laboratories Draws Elliott Investment as Activist Investor Pushes for Turnaround

04:22 AM EDT, 05/18/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Bio-Rad Laboratories ( BIO/B ) has attracted a sizable investment from Elliott Investment Management, which plans to push the life-science tools supplier to improve its lagging stock performance, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Elliott also holds a stake in German laboratory equipment maker Sartorius, in which Bio-Rad Laboratories ( BIO/B ) owns a strategic investment valued at about $5 billion, according to the report.

Bio-Rad Laboratories ( BIO/B ) shares have fallen more than 70% from their pandemic-era peak in late 2021 as sales and profits weakened and the company underperformed peers, the report said.

Elliott Investment Management did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Bio-Rad Laboratories ( BIO/B ) shares were over 4% higher in Monday premarket trading.
