The discussion comes as regulators grow more worried that advanced AI tools could exploit weaknesses in global financial systems. Bailey had asked that Anthropic discuss the strengths of its new Mythos AI model with the board members. This is because officials within the group have become more concerned about how advanced AI models like Mythos could exploit flaws within financial systems. Therefore, the board is working on a report that will outline sound practices for adopting AI in the financial sector. Meanwhile, concerns grew after Anthropic revealed that Mythos had found bugs across various systems. This is due to concerns about the risks the model could pose if widely distributed. Major tech and financial firms like Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft, Goldman Sachs (GS), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), and others have gained access to the powerful AI tool. This will help them identify and fix bugs that may have gone unnoticed for years in their systems. However, regulators and firms outside the U.S. are also concerned about the limited access to Mythos. Many of them fear that uneven levels of cybersecurity protection across global markets could threaten the security in weaker regions. Anthropic has received requests from governments and regulators worldwide seeking either access to Mythos or briefings about its capabilities. While the Claude maker has refused to share the model more widely, as per the White House request, it has agreed to provide briefings to some organizations, including the European Commission. Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently warned that emerging AI models could cause "macro-financial shock."
