# GTA 6 fans lose it over Best Buy pre-order leak

Millions of Grand Theft Auto fans woke up today wondering if today would finally be the day Rockstar breaks its silence. A wave of leaked retailer activity, suspicious store updates and a viral email from Best Buy have sent the gaming world into overdrive, with speculation building that GTA 6 pre-orders and a brand-new trailer could arrive at any moment.

The frenzy began last week when Best Buy reportedly sent an email to members of its affiliate marketing program, indicating that pre-orders for the most anticipated video game in history would open between May 18 and 21. Rockstar Games has not confirmed the information, and neither has Best Buy, but the internet has been running with it ever since.

### **5 signs pointing to a major GTA 6 announcement**

Several developments today have added fuel to the speculation. 1) A Best Buy affiliate email, reportedly seen by multiple recipients who traced its domain directly back to the retailer, promised a five percent discount on physical GTA 6 pre-orders during the May 18 to 21 window.

2) Walmart’s Grand Theft Auto VI listing page went live on its website and in Google search results, though clicking it currently leads to a page not found screen, suggesting the retailer may be laying groundwork for an imminent launch. 3) The Portuguese Xbox Store appeared to have been freshly updated in the early hours of Monday morning, with a Reddit user posting a screenshot of the altered GTA 6 listing as evidence.

4) Rockstar’s official YouTube channel reportedly gained two new unlisted videos over the weekend, raising speculation that one could be GTA 6 Trailer 3 and the other a pre-order announcement. 5) The timing also overlaps with a Take-Two Interactive earnings call this week, and the publisher has a well-documented history of aligning major announcements with investor events.

### **Not everyone is buying it**

Pushback has come from credible corners. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, a journalist with a track record of accurate industry intel, suggested during a podcast this week that GTA 6 pre-orders may not arrive until July or August. Meanwhile, an anonymous user on a popular GTA fan forum claimed access to internal communications indicating that Best Buy made an error and no pre-orders are launching today, though that person declined to offer any supporting evidence.

### **What Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed**

Away from the rumor cycle, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick offered one clear and firm guarantee in a recent interview: GTA 6 will launch on November 19, 2026. He stated plainly that the date has been publicly announced and is not up for debate. He also disclosed that the game is running roughly 18 months behind its original internal target, suggesting Rockstar may have quietly aimed for a spring 2025 release before a series of delays pushed it to its current window.

GTA 6 is estimated to have cost between $1 billion and $1.5 billion to produce, a figure that eclipses the development budgets of virtually every other video game in history. Zelnick has also confirmed that a significant marketing push is coming over the summer, meaning that even if today yields nothing, a wave of major announcements is on the way.

The last official look at GTA 6 was Trailer 2, released on May 6, 2025, more than a year ago. Whether today rewards the patience of millions of fans or delivers another quiet Monday remains to be seen.
