Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) pressed President Trump for a “short but forceful response” to Iran as peace talks stay stuck at a standstill. “I have every confidence that President Trump fully understands the situation with Iran and will not continue to tolerate a refusal to negotiate in good faith along with Iran’s defiant aggression in the Strait of Hormuz and throughout the region,” Graham wrote Monday morning on the social platform X. “It is abundantly clear to me that Iran has been very weakened militarily and economically. But at the same time, they have become more emboldened and aggressive. A short but forceful response now would reset the conflict in all the right ways.” On Sunday, Trump advised Iran that the “clock is ticking” as peace talks between Washington and Tehran seemed to be at an impasse. “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE,” Trump said on Truth Social. Trump last week shot down an Iranian response to a White House peace proposal, referring to it as “totally unacceptable” following Iran asking to separate nuclear talks from peace discussions. Trump’s Sunday threat came after he told reporters that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran was on “life support.” During the war, which has stretched for months, oil and gas prices have spiked as the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for the oil industry, has been closed. According to AAA, the current average price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. was about $4.52 on Monday afternoon, up from about $3.18 last year. The West Coast saw some of the nation’s highest prices on Monday, with California’s average price per regular gallon of gas at about $6.15, per AAA. In Washington and Oregon, prices were at about $5.78 and $5.34.
