# On the eve of large-scale layoffs, Meta has reassigned 7,000 employees to AI-related positions

According to an internal memo, Meta Platforms Inc. is reallocating 7,000 employees to new positions related to artificial intelligence as part of a comprehensive restructuring. This restructuring also includes layoffs scheduled for later this week.

Chief Human Resources Officer Janelle Gale released a memo on Monday stating that these employees will transition to one of several new teams focused on AI-related products, including agents and applications. Gale wrote that the new company structure will be "more flattened" and will mean "smaller team sizes."

She added, "We believe this will enhance our work efficiency and work value."

Meta previously informed employees that to improve efficiency and "offset" other investments in the AI field, the company will lay off about 10% of its workforce, or around 8,000 people, on Wednesday. The memo stated that the company encourages North American employees to work from home on Wednesday
