Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has achieved a new milestone in its infrastructure expansion, as the Chinese EV maker's charging stations in China surpassed 5,000.

As of Tuesday, Nio operates 5,023 charging stations in China, equipped with 28,863 charging piles.

These installations include high-power superchargers as well as lower-power regular slow chargers.

Meanwhile, the company's charging map has integrated over 1.61 million third-party charging piles in China.

Nio's charging network remains highly open to the broader EV market.

To date, 86.16% of the power from its charging piles has been provided to other EV brands.

In addition to charging facilities, Nio continues to expand its signature battery swap network. The company currently has 3,851 battery swap stations in China, with 1,037 located along highways.

These stations have provided a cumulative 110 million battery swap services to users. Nio plans to continue expanding its charging and swapping stations to more cities to cover more daily life scenarios.

This infrastructure milestone follows a busy May Day holiday for the EV maker. From April 30 to May 6, Nio completed over 1 million battery swap services.

Nio is also preparing for its next phase of infrastructure upgrades. The company plans to begin large-scale deployment of its fifth-generation battery swap stations in July and August this year.

These new stations feature a redesigned architecture to support a wider range of vehicle wheelbases. They will be compatible with vehicles from the Nio, Onvo, and Firefly brands.

Nio to enhance power business operations for profitability, says William Li

Over the past 11 years, Nio has invested over RMB 18 billion ($2.6 billion) in charging and battery swap infrastructure.
