# Vietnam: VinFast secures major order for 1,500 EVs

Taxi Huong Giang will phase out all its ICE vehicles and convert its entire fleet to EVs under the latest initiative. The company already operates more than 500 EVs, which means its fleet will grow to more than 2,000 zero-emission vehicles.

While Taxi Huong Giang has operated VinFast EVs in the former Bac Giang province since 2024, it plans to use the 1,500 new units to expand its presence throughout Bac Ninh province. The company could deploy these EVs on the Green SM platform, Vietnam’s leading ride-hailing service provider with a market share of more than 54 per cent. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of VinFast parent company Vingroup, owns a 95 per cent stake in Green SM.

Green SM says Taxi Huong Giang will become one of its five largest partners in Vietnam following the deployment of the 1,500 new EVs. The company is partnering with nearly 100 other transport businesses and 11 bus operators to support their transition to EVs. Through a franchise cooperation model, Taxi Huong Giang will allow drivers to gradually purchase the VinFast EVs they are operating, possibly through a lease-to-own business model.

None of the three parties involved in the project has disclosed the model mix of the EVs. However, images from the agreement signing ceremony indicate that the 1,500-unit fleet may include the Minio Green, Herio Green, Limo Green, and EC Van, priced at 269 million dong (8,724 euros), 479 million or 499 million dong (15,535 or 16,183 euros), 749 million dong (24,291 euros), and 285 million dong (9,243 euros), respectively. According to VinFast, these EVs deliver NEDC ranges of 210 kilometres, 326 kilometres, 450 kilometres, and 175 kilometres, respectively.

Commenting on Taxi Huong Giang’s new cooperation with Green SM, Chairwoman and General Director Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy said: “Through cooperation with Green SM, we are gradually participating more deeply in the green mobility ecosystem in Vietnam and bringing better values to society.” Meanwhile,Tran Le Phuong, Deputy General Director at GSM Global, said: “The cooperation with Taxi Huong Giang shows that the purely electric vehicle transportation model is ready to be deployed on a large scale with many flexible forms”.
