# Foxconn to manufacture NVIDIA SXM GPU Modules in Vietnam

Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn is set to manufacture NVIDIA’s high-end SXM GPU modules at its factories in Vietnam.

An ongoing NVIDIA job listing for an “SXM Manufacturing Test Engineer” based in Hanoi showed that “most work time will be in Foxconn factories.” The role involves “building new generations of GPU boards and products.”

The posting features production-stage activities including diagnostic package development, test station validation, and yield improvement.

SXM modules are NVIDIA’s premium data center GPU products, used in the company’s flagship HGX and DGX AI supercomputing platforms. The development in Vietnam marks a significant milestone in the country’s development as a global electronics manufacturing hub.

The SXM role is among many NVIDIA recruitments in Vietnam, such as manufacturing test engineering, factory planning, product engineering, inventory control, and senior operations management. Several of the postings reference “multiple contract manufacturer sites” and “fast growing manufacturing volumes.”

## NVIDIA’s Vietnam Strategy

NVIDIA’s manufacturing expansion in Vietnam follows CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to the country in December 2024. At the time, the executive signed an agreement with the Vietnamese government to establish an AI research and development center and an AI data center.

Besides, Nvidia signed agreements with some partners to relocate some production lines to Vietnam and to invest $4-4.5 billion in the country. The process can result in the recruitment of 4,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect jobs in Vietnam.

NVIDIA operates as a fabless semiconductor company, meaning that it relies on contract manufacturing partners. Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturer, already maintains significant manufacturing operations in Vietnam.
