# Optical communication stocks strengthened, Marvell (MRVL.US) rose over 7%, Corning (GLW.US) rose over 2%

On Wednesday (May 20), during the U.S. stock market trading, optical communication-related stocks showed overall strength. Marvell Technology (MRVL.US) rose 7.50% to $189.49, leading the sector, with an intraday high increase of 9.02%; its 2x leveraged ETF MVLL.US rose 14.58% to $87.00, with an intraday high increase of 17.87, showing significant amplification effects. Optical communication leader Corning (GLW.US) rose 2.57%, Coherent (COHR.US) rose 1.69%, and Lumentum (LITE.US) slightly increased by 0.86% (with an intraday high increase of 4.40%).

The sector also showed clear differentiation: Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI.US) fell 1.01% (having previously risen 4.65% during the day); AXT (AXTI.US) fell 4.36%, and AAOX.US had an intraday fluctuation of nearly 10%; Nokia (NOK.US) fell 1.39%.

In terms of news, Marvell's strength mainly stems from the news of "NVIDIA investing $2 billion in MRVL," combined with the continuation of yesterday's "AMD strategically investing in Marvell," which the market interprets as Marvell's strategic position in NVIDIA's self-developed AI ASIC supply chain (including cooperation with AWS Trainium chips) being elevated. Marvell has become a core beneficiary of the revaluation of the AI ASIC/network chip industry chain, and the market is beginning to reassess the valuation positioning of companies related to the Trainium industry chain. At the same time, NVIDIA will release its latest quarterly financial report after the market today, and the market's optimistic expectations for AI computing power infrastructure demand extend to the optical module/optical device segment, with Lumentum, Coherent, and other leading high-speed optical module companies seen as direct beneficiaries of the high-bandwidth optical interconnect demand in AI data centers
