# CICC: Focus on Positive Capital Flow Impact from Index Review on BEONE MEDICINES , J&T EXPRESS-W , KNOWLEDGE ATLAS  and MINIMAX-W

CICC published a report noting that after market close on May 22, 2026, Hang Seng Indexes Company announced the results of its regular quarterly index review.

1) HSI: This adjustment added BEONE MEDICINES (06160.HK) -5.200 (-2.799%) Short selling $79.73M; Ratio 25.165% (weighting 1.3%), J&T EXPRESS-W (01519.HK) -0.270 (-2.932%) Short selling $67.93M; Ratio 47.601% (0.3%) and CHALCO (02600.HK) -0.430 (-3.620%) Short selling $25.19M; Ratio 7.052% (0.24%). The number of constituents increased to 93.

2) HSCEI: HANSOH PHARMA (03692.HK) -0.200 (-0.588%) Short selling $17.28M; Ratio 26.414% and AKESO (09926.HK) +3.000 (+2.674%) Short selling $49.08M; Ratio 16.228% were added with weightings of 0.46% and 0.76%, respectively; SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) +1.200 (+1.623%) Short selling $441.44M; Ratio 32.617% and HAIER SMARTHOME (06690.HK) -0.250 (-1.256%) Short selling $72.02M; Ratio 32.549% were removed, with previous weightings of 0.41% and 0.46%. The number of constituents remained unchanged at 50.

3) HSTECH: KNOWLEDGE ATLAS (02513.HK) +80.000 (+5.948%) Short selling $44.75M; Ratio 5.859% and MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) +81.000 (+10.533%) Short selling $64.66M; Ratio 3.684% were added with weightings of 0.53% and 0.36%, respectively; KINGDEE INT'L (00268.HK) -0.170 (-2.234%) Short selling $105.59M; Ratio 47.130% and KINGSOFT (03888.HK) -0.200 (-0.933%) Short selling $102.94M; Ratio 54.421% were removed, with previous weightings of 0.70% and 0.67%. The number of constituents remained unchanged at 50.

According to Bloomberg consensus data, assets under management of ETFs tracking the HSI amount to approximately USD27.76 billion, while those tracking the HSCEI and HSTECH amount to about USD8.60 billion and USD52.04 billion, respectively. Based on the above constituent and weighting changes, and factoring in each stocks average daily turnover over the past three months, CICC estimated the potential impact of passive fund flows:

1) HSI: BEONE MEDICINES, J&T EXPRESS-W and CHALCO are expected to see the longest time required to absorb passive inflows among the newly added stocks. CICC estimates passive inflows of approximately USD360 million, USD83 million and USD67 million, respectively, requiring about 3.9 days, 2.5 days and 0.8 days of trading. On the outflow side, due to index weighting adjustments, POWER ASSETS (00006.HK) -0.500 (-0.812%) Short selling $11.42M; Ratio 7.867% and ZTO EXPRESS-W (02057.HK) -2.500 (-1.403%) Short selling $53.17M; Ratio 42.016% may see potential passive outflows of about USD8.33 million and USD19.43 million, respectively, each requiring around 0.4 days.

2) HSCEI: HANSOH PHARMA and AKESO are expected to see the longest time required to absorb passive inflows among the additions, with estimated inflows of USD39.56 million and USD65.37 million, requiring about 0.9 days and 0.5 days, respectively. For outflows, HAIER SMARTHOME and SUNNY OPTICAL, with weightings of 0.46% and 0.41%, may see passive outflows of approximately USD39.56 million and USD35.26 million, requiring about 0.7 days and 0.4 days, respectively.

3) HSTECH: KNOWLEDGE ATLAS and MINIMAX-W are expected to see the longest time required to absorb passive inflows among the new additions, with estimated inflows of USD280 million and USD190 million, requiring about 1.2 days and 0.9 days, respectively. On the outflow side, KINGSOFT and KINGDEE INT'L, with weightings of 0.67% and 0.70%, may face passive outflows of approximately USD350 million and USD360 million, requiring about 9.7 days and 7.6 days, respectively.
