# American Airlines' Starlink Deal Has Cathie Wood Thinking About Mars

**American Airlines Group, Inc.** (NASDAQ:AAL) may have just announced faster in-flight Wi-Fi, but Ark Invest founder Cathie Wood already has her sights set much farther away.

The chain reaction started after American Airlines posted on X that **SpaceX**'s **Starlink** internet service would begin rolling out across its flights starting in 2027, promising passengers a "high-speed in-flight connection" capable of streaming, gaming and real-time browsing from gate to gate.

**Elon Musk** quickly amplified the announcement with a short celebratory reply: "Starlink coming to American Airlines!"

Wood wondered whether her nearly 3 million American Airlines frequent flyer miles could someday evolve into "Starship miles" capable of taking her to the moon or even Mars.

"Maybe AA/Starlink miles will translate into Starship miles so that I can fly to the moon or **Mars**!" Wood wrote on X.

## American Airlines Expands Starlink Partnership

The announcement marks another high-profile commercial win for Starlink, which has been rapidly expanding beyond its roots as a satellite internet provider for rural and remote areas.
