(AAL). The deal marks another significant commercial win for Starlink's creator, SpaceX, ahead of its highly anticipated public debut. The rollout will cover its Airbus A321neo and A321XLR fleets, aircraft that serve many of its domestic and short-haul international routes. However, its Boeing (BA) aircraft will not be a part of the agreement. Instead, it will continue using a mix of Viasat Inc (VSAT) and Panasonic Holdings (PCRFF) connectivity services for now, the company added. Starlink's low Earth orbit satellite network is designed to deliver faster speeds and lower latency than traditional in-flight Wi-Fi systems. American Airlines' chief customer officer, Heather Garboden, said the new upgrade service is part of the firm's commitment to elevating every aspect of its customers' travel journeys. ## **Another Major Win Ahead of SpaceX's IPO** The American Airlines contract goes beyond competition for SpaceX's Starlink, as it faces rivals such as Amazon's (AMZN) low Earth orbit satellite and legacy providers like Viasat. Still, it adds another boost for SpaceX ahead of its highly anticipated IPO in June. Notably, the IPO is expected to be the largest in history. The deal is part of SpaceX's broader push to expand revenue through airline and cruise partnerships. After all, Starlink remains the only major SpaceX unit generating significant income. This means each new contract is critical to the company's overall financial performance. Meanwhile, SpaceX has also secured multiple aviation contracts. Airlines such as United Airlines (UAL), Southwest Airlines (LUV), Lufthansa Group (DE:LHA), British Airways parent International Airlines Group (IAG), and Alaska Air Group (ALK) are already deploying Starlink across parts of their fleets.
