# BYD Unveils Xuanji A3, China's First 4nm Intelligent Driving Chip; Super Intelligent Agent "Didi Xia" Also Debuts!

BYD is further intensifying its intelligentization strategy, sending a strong signal to the market by combining breakthroughs in self-developed chips with commitments to safety responsibility.

On May 28, BYD unveiled the Xuanji A3 chip at its intelligentization strategy launch event. This is China's first self-developed 4nm intelligent driving chip, supporting L3 and L4 autonomous driving. Wang Chuanfu, Chairman of BYD Group, announced that the chip's manufacturing process ranks first in the industry, while also achieving the lowest power consumption per unit of computing power.

Wang Chuanfu further stated that the second half of the intelligentization race is accelerating. BYD has outlined three major goals for this phase: zero traffic accidents, super driver, and super secretary. "These three goals will definitely be achieved in the future, driven by rapid advancements in perception hardware, AI algorithms, and data."

BYD simultaneously launched the super intelligent agent "Didi Xia," which features full-cabin memory, cross-domain interaction, device-cloud collaboration, and fast-and-slow thinking capabilities.

## Self-Developed 4nm Chip with Total Computing Power Exceeding 2100 TOPS Across Three Units

The Xuanji A3 adopts a 4nm process, making it the most advanced self-developed intelligent driving chip from a Chinese automaker to date. It supports L3 and L4 autonomous driving functions, with the total computing power of three chips exceeding 2100 TOPS.

According to the company, the chip is deeply optimized in combination with BYD's self-developed algorithms, doubling the utilization rate of computing power.

Self-developed chip capabilities are widely regarded as one of the core barriers to competition in the intelligentization of automakers. BYD's launch of this 4nm self-developed product signifies a further increase in its autonomy and control over core intelligent driving components, helping to reduce reliance on external chip suppliers and providing stronger underlying support for the iteration of intelligent driving functions in future models.

Wang Chuanfu introduced that BYD has a chip R&D team of over 7,000 people, an investment of more than RMB 100 billion in chips, four major chip R&D bases, and five wafer fabrication plants. The company masters all seven major steps from product definition, architecture design, and circuit design to wafer fabrication, packaging, and testing, making it the only automaker globally with full-process, end-to-end chip manufacturing capabilities.

## Safety Backstop and Front-Loaded Responsibility

At the launch event, Wang Chuanfu announced that BYD would proactively assume safety responsibilities for L3 and L4 levels during the L2 stage, and would be the first to commit to a one-year safety backstop for urban navigation features. He described this move as "technical confidence, and even more so, responsibility towards users."

This marks the second time BYD has proactively assumed responsibility, following its earlier commitment to a safety backstop for intelligent parking.

BYD's intelligentization strategy is built upon a substantial accumulation of data. In April this year, BYD announced that the number of vehicles equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) had exceeded 2.85 million (statistics as of March 31, 2026, including vehicles equipped with BYD's God's Eye and Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving). The God's Eye system generates over 180 million kilometers of data daily. In March this year, monthly sales of BYD vehicles with ADAS reached 129,610 units.
