# Cui Dongshu from the Passenger Car Association: From January to April, China's new energy passenger vehicles accounted for 61% of the world's share

On June 1st, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the Passenger Car Association, stated that global automobile sales reached 30.96 million units from January to April 2026, with new energy vehicles accounting for 6.65 million units. The share of new energy vehicles in the first four months of 2026 reached 21.4%, with pure electric vehicles accounting for 14.7% and plug-in hybrids accounting for 6.7%. In the same period, conventional hybrids reached 7.9%, surpassing plug-in hybrids and becoming a growth highlight. From January to April 2026, China's share of the global new energy passenger car market reached 61%. In 2026, China's share of the global pure electric vehicle market was 56%, and its share of the global plug-in hybrid market reached a high level of 71%
