# NVIDIA RTX Spark chip ignites the definition debate of "AI PC," Windows ecosystem may face reshaping

According to Zhitong Finance APP, NVIDIA (NVDA.US) has teamed up with Microsoft (MSFT.US) this week to launch the RTX Spark super chip, reigniting discussions about the future form of personal computers. This AI hardware giant is re-entering the laptop processor market, claiming to bring the most disruptive transformation to the PC field in decades.

At the Taipei International Computer Show (Computex), the release of RTX Spark overshadowed nearly all other products. As a result, Intel (INTC.US) and AMD (AMD.US) saw their stock prices pressured, while NVIDIA's partner MediaTek bucked the trend with a rise. The first devices equipped with this technology will be available for sale this fall, marking the official start of an exciting showdown in the PC processor market.

**Local Running of Large Models, Redefining AI PC**

NVIDIA stated that RTX Spark is the first product in a new generation of chip series, designed to provide an optimized platform for artificial intelligence computing—just as its products have become the computational cornerstone of AI data centers. The core difference from Intel and AMD products is that RTX Spark can run large models locally on the device without relying on the cloud.

Analyst Steven Tseng pointed out: "Rather than a new laptop launch, this is more of an attempt to redefine the AI PC. Many so-called AI PCs on the market still heavily rely on cloud AI, making them indistinguishable from regular PCs equipped with high-end processors. Spark sets a higher standard: a true AI PC should be able to run AI agents locally."

**NVIDIA Aims to Reshape the Windows Ecosystem, PC Manufacturers Rally Together**

NVIDIA has successfully built its graphics card business into a nearly $500 billion infrastructure industry, and now it plans to completely reshape the Windows ecosystem. At Computex, NVIDIA showcased its strong industry appeal. Microsoft, the dominant player in the Windows ecosystem, fully supports this project, while NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has rallied nearly all global PC manufacturers.

Partners from Taiwan, including Lenovo, Dell, and ASUS, showcased RTX Spark devices at the Taipei show. NVIDIA plans to launch three versions for each generation of chips—laptop, desktop, and workstation. Huang even envisioned "every household owning an AI supercomputer."

In his keynote speech on Monday, Huang stated: "Microsoft and NVIDIA have finely optimized every aspect."

**From Data Centers to End Devices, NVIDIA Accelerates Ecosystem Expansion**

Extending its business reach from data centers to end devices helps NVIDIA further strengthen its developer ecosystem while providing consumers with new NVIDIA-branded hardware products. The company stated that the initial products will be positioned in the "high-end" market, but more cost-effective versions will be launched in the future to cover a broader market range.

At an analyst event held in Taiwan, Huang elaborated on his vision: PCs need to fundamentally change their existing role as "tools waiting for user operation." The future PC will always be running and able to proactively communicate with users like an assistant He even compared it to Luke Skywalker's loyal robot R2-D2 in Star Wars.

"There is currently no PC in the world that can do this," Jensen Huang said, "Don't you think that looks like R2-D2? Don't you think that's cool enough?"

**Analysts: NVIDIA may quickly eat into AMD and Intel's market share**

Analysts Kunjan Sobhani and Oscar Hernandez Tejada pointed out that NVIDIA is becoming increasingly aggressive. It is likely to enter new markets where its current market share is almost zero and quickly seize a significant share from companies like AMD and Intel.

They mentioned that Spark is expected to benefit from the continued rise in personal AI interest. Adoption on the enterprise side is particularly critical—companies need local AI processing capabilities while also wanting to integrate cloud services. If the popularity of agentic AI drives demand for personal AI computing power, NVIDIA may reshape a PC market that has historically seen single-digit annual growth.

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon also expressed similar views at Computex. He believes we are transitioning from a smartphone-centric digital ecosystem to an era with more diverse hardware—where the core task will become providing information to AI agents. Amon has declared 2026 as the "Year of AI Agents." He and Jensen Huang both attended the Microsoft Build Developer Conference via video link to promote their technological vision.

**Intel emphasizes long-term experience and collaboration; the market questions RTX's performance advantages and execution**

In the face of this changing landscape, Intel, which still supplies processors for the vast majority of Windows PCs, has responded in a less revolutionary manner. Newly appointed CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who has been in office for a year, invited several partners during Intel's keynote speech and emphasized Intel's long-standing experience and foundation in the PC and traditional data center sectors.

In a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, Lip-Bu Tan stated that he views industry development from a long-term perspective and does not see industry players as competitors, even referring to NVIDIA as a "good friend." NVIDIA invested $5 billion in Intel shares last September, and Lip-Bu Tan said, "They are our investors, and we welcome them."

There are still many questions regarding RTX Spark. Although NVIDIA and MediaTek disclosed some chip design details and promised all-day battery life, they refused to provide performance comparison data with existing devices. NVIDIA must prove to the market that it has a significant advantage over Intel to shake up the existing Windows PC landscape.

Analyst Steven Tseng summarized: "Although the potential growth space is considerable, execution capability remains a key risk."
