# JPMorgan May Have a Private Credit Target

JPMorgan Chase may have Carlyle Global Credit on its radar if the private credit business is ever put up for sale, according to a New York Post report.

The report said private equity chatter picked up after CEO Jamie Dimon told the Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference that JPMorgan is looking for possible acquisitions. Dimon floated the idea of a $10 billion to $20 billion deal over the next couple of years, but also made clear he is not rushing because asset prices remain high. It's gotta make sense, he said.

Carlyle Global Credit would be a major target in a fast growing market. The unit had $194 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31, 2024, and invests across different parts of private credit. Bankers reportedly believe Dimon could look at either a wealth management firm or a private credit platform.

the story matters because JPMorgan may want more exposure to private credit, even as Dimon has warned that the sector could face a shakeout. The next key question is whether Carlyle ever decides to sell.
