(AAPL.US) revealed its research and development progress in the field of artificial intelligence at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held in Cupertino, California. At this year's WWDC, Apple showcased a redesigned demo version of Siri, which can engage in multi-turn conversations with users, representing a significant upgrade compared to previous versions. In one demonstration, Siri was able to check concert dates, set ticket reminders, and even plan routes, picking up friends along the way to the concert venue. However, this release also highlighted Apple's distinctly different strategic choice compared to most of its Silicon Valley competitors: the company has not invested billions of dollars in infrastructure and large-scale advanced models, but instead focuses on privacy advantages and convenience for potential users. Apple executives emphasized this differentiated approach in their remarks on Monday. Craig Federighi, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, stated at the press conference: "Some companies seem to be rushing forward, pursuing AI for the sake of AI, without truly focusing on the end users that this technology is meant to serve — all of us." On Monday, Apple executives revealed to the media at the company's headquarters that two traditional AI giants, Google (GOOGL.US) and NVIDIA (NVDA.US), are assisting Apple in building its most advanced model — Apple Foundation Model Cloud Pro. Although Apple and Google announced their collaboration on Apple Intelligence back in January, this is the first official confirmation that some features of Apple Intelligence will rely on NVIDIA chips. Amar Subramanya, Apple's AI business executive, stated that the capabilities of AFM Cloud Pro can rival Google's cutting-edge Gemini model. Apple officially stated that the model will run on NVIDIA GPUs in the cloud, which are part of Apple's private cloud computing infrastructure. Subramanya said: "We are collaborating with Google and NVIDIA to extend our private cloud computing infrastructure to NVIDIA GPUs in Google Cloud while maintaining Apple's unparalleled privacy protection standards." Sebastian Marineau-Mes, Apple's Vice President of Software, stated that Apple hopes to use NVIDIA's latest chips but requires them to be configured in a way that emphasizes privacy, ensuring that NVIDIA cannot read data on the servers. Marineau-Mes noted that recent technological improvements such as "confidential computing" introduced by NVIDIA have allowed Apple and Google to build systems that meet their standards. "We want to leverage NVIDIA's latest technology, so we are working to extend our private cloud computing to third-party cloud platforms," he added. Apple is differentiating itself from other companies heavily investing in AI by emphasizing the privacy advantages of its software: the company will not collect vast amounts of data like web-based AIs such as OpenAI's ChatGPT or Anthropic's Claude, but will instead use locally stored user information (such as calendars and messages) to personalize AI functionalities At Monday's technical communication meeting, Federighi and his team introduced how Apple is building Siri AI and the Apple Intelligence technology layer, as well as how this solution differs from other AI products familiar to consumers. Apple executives presented the architecture of the software: Apple's operating system and software include a module called the "system orchestrator," which routes requests to the appropriate model—whether edge model or cloud model—based on the computing power and personal data required for the AI requests. Federighi stated that the system orchestrator is "the core of our entire system's privacy architecture." The meeting also revealed more details about Apple's collaboration with Google. Federighi mentioned that the AI software Apple Intelligence, which runs on Apple devices, uses Apple's self-developed models, rather than the model that the tech community previously speculated to be the same as the public version of Google Gemini; he also stated that Apple does not directly use Google's existing cloud infrastructure. Google's technology is used to assist in building Apple's self-developed models, especially the third-generation AFM model for the cloud, which was released on Monday. These models are specifically designed and optimized to run on Apple chips. Subramanya stated, "The four models we just introduced—AFM Core, Core Advanced Cloud, and Cloud Image—are all custom-built for Apple chips, trained using proprietary data through reinforcement learning, and optimized based on the output results of the cutting-edge Gemini model." ### Related Stocks - [AAPL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPL.US.md) - [NVDA.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDA.US.md) - [GOOGL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOGL.US.md) - [GOOG.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOG.US.md) - [AAPW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPW.US.md) - [APLY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/APLY.US.md) - [FTXL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/FTXL.US.md) - [PSI.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/PSI.US.md) - [XSD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/XSD.US.md) - [SOXQ.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SOXQ.US.md) - [SOXL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SOXL.US.md) - [SOXX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SOXX.US.md) - [SMH.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SMH.US.md) - [AAPY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPY.US.md) - [07788.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/07788.HK.md) - [NVDB.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDB.US.md) - [NVDD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDD.US.md) - [NVDG.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDG.US.md) - [NVDO.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDO.US.md) - [NVDW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDW.US.md) - [NVYY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVYY.US.md) - [NYYY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NYYY.US.md) - [NVD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVD.US.md) - [NVDX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDX.US.md) - [GGLS.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GGLS.US.md) - [GOOW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOW.US.md) - [GOOY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOY.US.md) - [AAPU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPU.US.md) - [AAPD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPD.US.md) - [AAPX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPX.US.md) - [AAPB.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPB.US.md) - [GGLL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GGLL.US.md) - [NVDS.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDS.US.md) - [NVDY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDY.US.md) - [NVDL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDL.US.md) - [07388.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/07388.HK.md) - [NVDU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDU.US.md) - [NVDQ.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDQ.US.md) - [NVD.DE](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVD.DE.md) ## Related News & Research - [Apple's Biggest AI Bet Yet Runs On NVIDIA, Not Its Own Chips](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289178134.md) - [Apple announces watchOS 27, now with Siri AI](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289095797.md) - [ANALYSIS-Nvidia's AI PC push banks on unproven demand beyond niche users](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289042406.md) - [Apple Says It Is Enabling Siri To Be Much More Conversational](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289091219.md) - [Apple’s Image Playground doesn’t suck anymore](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289092002.md)
