# Circle Launches Wrapped Bitcoin cirBTC on Ethereum Mainnet

Circle has launched Circle Wrapped Bitcoin (cirBTC) on the Ethereum mainnet. According to Foresight News, cirBTC reserves can be independently verified in real time on-chain and are intended for institutional use cases such as OTC trading desks, market makers, and lending protocols. In an earlier update, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said on X that cirBTC was set to go live. He added that users could obtain cirBTC for testing via a testnet faucet on Arc and Ethereum.
