# CATL Inks Second Large Battery Electrolytes Supply Deal in Two Days

(Yicai) June 9 -- Contemporary Amperex Technology, the world’s largest battery maker, has signed a second large supply deal for lithium battery electrolytes in just two days.

Yongtai Technology will provide CATL with 70,000 tons of lithium battery electrolytes this year, 150,000 tons next year, and 250,000 tons in 2027, the Zhejiang province-based supplier announced yesterday.

Yongtai did not reveal the value of the deal, but based on a rough market price of about CNY27,000 (USD3,980) per ton for lithium iron phosphate battery electrolyte, it would be worth around CNY12.7 billion (USD1.9 billion).

CATL is a long-standing client of Yongtai. The first deal they signed was in 2021 for the supply of three types of chemical materials used in lithium battery electrolytes over a period of five years. In 2024, CATL ordered no less than 200,000 tons of lithium battery electrolytes for that year and the following one.

Yongtai is among China’s leading battery electrolyte suppliers. According to its 2025 financial statement, it produced 107,300 tons of battery chemicals last year, with sales volume of 107,200 tons and related revenue of CNY2.1 billion (USD311.8 million), accounting for 41 percent of its total revenue.

On June 7, Capchem Technology announced it received a three-year supply order from CATL for 300,000 tons of lithium battery electrolytes.

Chinese battery material makers are signing long-term supply contracts to secure electrolytes. Last week, Tinci Materials Technology said it had agreed to nearly double the supply of lithium battery electrolytes and component chemicals to Cornex New Energy to at least one million tons by 2030.

CATL’s shares \[SHE: 300750\] were trading down 0.2 percent to CNY392.29 (USD57.85) as of 10.30 a.m. in Shenzhen today. Yongtai \[SHE: 002326\] fell 4 percent to CNY22.20 (USD3.27), after opening 2.8 percent up.
