# Sales surged by 766%, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's visit to South Korea unexpectedly boosted "HBM chips"

IT Home reported on June 9 that Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, recently visited South Korea, and his "food tour" during his time in Korea this year has also attracted public attention.

According to reports, Huang had cold noodles with Hyundai Motor Group chairman Chung Eui-sun at "Woo Lae Oak" the day before at noon. On Tuesday, he also enjoyed ginseng chicken soup, white cut chicken, and scallion pancakes at a store in the Jongno district of Seoul, while drinking ginseng liquor.

In fact, Huang's "food journey" began on Monday. That day, he had a dinner at a barbecue restaurant in Seoul with SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver founder Lee Hae-jin, enjoying grilled pork belly while tasting soju.

Notably, Huang personally distributed SK Hynix's "HBM Chips," co-produced with 7-ELEVEn, and Binggrae banana milk to the gathered crowd on the streets of Hongdae. Upon arriving in Korea, he expressed, "I miss Korean fried chicken and barbecue so much, and ginseng chicken soup is the best; everything is delicious."

It is worth noting that this influence has translated into actual sales. According to data released by 7-ELEVEn, the sales of the "HBM Chips" distributed by Huang surged 766% on Tuesday compared to the same day last year. Meanwhile, the sales of the banana milk and sweet rice drink he distributed also increased by 12% and 13%, respectively.

According to previous reports from IT Home, SK Hynix and convenience store giant 7-ELEVEn launched the "HBM Chips" themed puffed snacks last year. The name features a pun design, referring not only to HBM chips but also to "Honey Banana Mat Chips," with its relatively square shape inspired by the appearance of HBM memory stacks.
