(AAPL.US). The transaction was registered on June 5. Waymo has confirmed the acquisition to the media. This site will significantly enhance Waymo's testing capabilities, featuring an 115-acre urban driving training area, a 35-acre vehicle dynamics testing zone, a 4-mile-long high-speed oval track, and highway simulation segments specifically designed for autonomous driving testing. A Waymo spokesperson stated that the facility will be used to simulate driving scenarios in a controlled environment to continuously test and improve the performance of its autonomous driving systems. This Arizona testing site becomes the largest closed testing facility in Waymo's network, complementing existing facilities such as the Castle testing site in California and the Transportation Research Center in Ohio. Apple acquired the property in 2021 for $125 million. Previously, Apple had leased the site for many years for its now-terminated electric vehicle project, Project Titan. The facility was previously used by Fiat Chrysler as a testing base. This acquisition comes as Waymo continues to expand its commercial autonomous taxi business in Phoenix and Maricopa County. The company began testing autonomous vehicles in the suburban Chandler area of Phoenix in 2017 and has since expanded its services to over a dozen U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, and Atlanta ### Related Stocks - [GOOGL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOGL.US.md) - [GOOG.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOG.US.md) - [GOOW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOW.US.md) - [GGLS.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GGLS.US.md) - [GGLL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GGLL.US.md) - [GOOY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOY.US.md) - [AAPL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AAPL.US.md) ## Related News & Research - [Uber, Wayve and Waymo are headed towards a robotaxi showdown in London](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289044117.md) - [Why Cathie Wood and Berkshire Hathaway Both Love Google Stock Here](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288896332.md) - [Cyngn Reports Growing Enterprise Interest in Fleet-Scale Autonomous Vehicle Deployments | CYN Stock News](https://longbridge.com/en/news/289044644.md) - [Waymo Rolls Out the Ojai!](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288512145.md) - [GM stock rises as it revives consumer-focused self-driving push](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288777201.md)
