# Marvell Climbs After Winning S&P 500 Spot

Marvell Technology (MRVL, Financials) shares jumped more than 9% after S&P Dow Jones Indices announced the semiconductor company will join the S&P 500 later this month.

The change will take effect before markets open on June 22, with Marvell replacing Pool Corp in the benchmark index. The announcement adds another catalyst to a stock that has already gained significant momentum amid strong investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Marvell has rallied roughly 59% since late May after forecasting that revenue from its custom AI chip business could exceed $10 billion in fiscal 2029. The company has emerged as a key supplier of custom silicon used by major cloud providers building next-generation AI data centers.

S&P 500 inclusion is often viewed as a positive event because index-tracking funds must purchase shares of newly added companies. Those passive inflows can provide additional support for a stock's valuation and trading liquidity.

The addition also reflects Marvell's improving financial profile after the company achieved profitability under S&P's eligibility requirements.

Investors will now focus on Marvell's ability to execute on its long-term AI growth targets and expand its share of the rapidly growing custom-chip market.
