The government is facing political pressure to consider using a break clause at the end of the initial term in early 2027. Technology Minister Liz Kendall said Tuesday that the review will determine whether to extend the £330 million ($441 million) agreement for up to seven years or end it. ## **Concerns Over Foreign Dependence** Last week, a parliamentary committee urged ministers to activate the clause and end the contract, calling Palantir's role an "unacceptable point of weakness." At the same time, officials acknowledged benefits, including improved waiting list management, hospital operations, and discharge planning. The deal has also faced scrutiny because Palantir provides software to the U.S. military and immigration authorities. Additional concerns have been raised over the political views of its billionaire co-founder Peter Thiel, an early supporter of President Donald Trump. Campaigners and unions have raised concerns about how sensitive health data is handled. Last month, the _Financial Times_ reported that NHS officials had proposed giving some external staff, including Palantir employees, broad administrative access to identifiable patient data in parts of the system.
