# Market Backlash—The First Time Since the Launch of ChatGPT!

Overnight, the Nasdaq became the worst-performing index in the U.S. stock market. Across the broader U.S. equity market, only the technology and energy sectors declined (Figure 1);

Over the past five days, the widening gap between the S&P 500 (red line in Figure 2) and Goldman Sachs’ S&P Ex-AI Index Basket (green line in Figure 2) most clearly illustrates this divergence. The magnitude of this divergence marks the first time since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 (Figure 3)
