BYD's (HKEX: 1211) new flagship sedan, the Da Han, has appeared in a regulatory filing in China, signaling that the model is one step closer to its official launch. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Wednesday published its latest batch of new vehicle filings to seek public feedback between June 11 and 17. BYD filed three versions of the Da Han, including two battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions and one plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version. Join us on Telegram or Google News The filing shows that the Da Han is a typical D-class sedan, measuring 5,256 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,510 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm. The model features a five-seat layout and comes standard with a panoramic glass roof, while offering a range of optional features including a two-tone body and semi-hidden door handles. In terms of powertrain, the BEV version with the model number BYD7000AXBEV3 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak power of 370 kW, allowing a top speed of 240 km/h. The all-wheel-drive BEV version, with the model number BYD7000AXBEV2, adopts a dual-motor layout, with a 200 kW AC asynchronous motor at the front and a 370 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear, offering a combined peak power of 570 kW (764 hp). This version has a top speed of 270 km/h and a curb weight of 2,505 kg. The PHEV version, with the model number BYD7150AX6HEV1, is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine and a drive motor with a peak power of 200 kW. Its engine produces 115 kW of power, and the version has a top speed of 225 km/h. All three versions use BYD's Blade Battery based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which is expected to be the company's second-generation Blade Battery that supports flash charging. The Da Han is the first D-class flagship sedan in BYD's Dynasty lineup, positioned above the existing flagship sedan, the Han, marking the company's latest move to accelerate its expansion into the premium market. Lu Tian, general manager of the sales division of BYD's Dynasty lineup, unveiled official camouflaged photos of the model on June 8. Prior to that, he had solicited suggestions from the user community for the new model's official name. After multiple rounds of screening, "Da Han" led by a wide margin among the six finalist names. The sedan will target the premium vehicle market alongside the upcoming Da Tang SUV. As the first D-class flagship SUV in the Dynasty lineup, the Da Tang will officially launch on June 17 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The Da Tang EV opened for pre-sales on April 24 at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, with pre-sales prices ranging from 250,000 yuan ($36,920) to 320,000 yuan. The Da Tang has seen a strong market response. Its orders exceeded 30,000 units within the first 24 hours of pre-sale, and total pre-orders surpassed 100,000 units within the first two weeks. The launch of these flagship models comes as BYD's sales show signs of recovery. The company sold 383,453 NEVs wholesale in May, up slightly by 0.26% year-on-year, ending eight consecutive months of sales declines. BYD chairman says this year's sales depend on battery output, greater volume next year Wang Chuanfu told a shareholder meeting that second-generation Blade Battery capacity is climbing by increments of 20,000 to 30,000 units a month.
