Subscriptions cost $29.99 per month and are available to frequent users of the robotaxi service in the cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, Arizona. For the monthly fee, subscribers get priority pick-ups, up to five free cancellations per month, and will earn 10% back in loyalty credits, or Waymo Cash, for each trip they take. The premium service is being launched as Waymo expands across the U.S. and tries to stay ahead of competitors such as Tesla (TSLA). ## **Generating an Investment Return** Subscriptions also provide Alphabet with added revenue at a time when Waymo's business is struggling financially. In the first quarter of this year, Alphabet's Other Bets segment that includes Waymo saw its losses grow to $2.1 billion from $1.22 billion a year earlier. Waymo's revenue fell to $411 million from $450 million the previous year. Waymo recently raised $16 billion in a funding round that values the business unit at $126 billion, more than double its valuation in October 2024. Waymo is widely viewed as a leader in the self-driving taxi space. GOOGL stock has risen 113% over the past 12 months. ## **Is GOOGL Stock a Buy?** The stock of Alphabet has a consensus Strong Buy rating among 33 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on 28 Buy and five Hold recommendations issued in the last three months.
