# AI Power Demand Fuels New ETF: MWHS Brings Electricity Futures to Wall Street

**Exchange Traded Concepts** (ETC), in partnership with **Skylar Capital Management**, has launched the **Skylar Electricity Futures ETF (NYSE:MWHS)**, giving investors direct exposure to U.S. wholesale electricity prices through exchange-traded futures contracts. The ETF began trading on Monday, marking one of the few products designed to provide pure-play exposure to electricity as a commodity rather than to utility stocks or broader energy companies.

The launch comes as investor interest in energy infrastructure, grid modernization, and rising electricity demand continues to accelerate, fueled by artificial intelligence, data centers, and electrification trends. 

**Garrett Stevens**, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Exchange Traded Concepts, said the fund offers investors access to a critical component of the modern economy by tracking electricity futures tied to major U.S. power markets, including ERCOT and PJM. 

**Bill Perkins**, Founder and CEO of Skylar Capital Management, noted that while commodities such as oil, natural gas, and metals have long been staples of institutional portfolios, electricity has remained largely absent despite its growing economic importance. He said the ETF is designed to bridge that gap by providing direct exposure to wholesale power prices through ICE electricity futures.

## **Key Features of the Skylar Electricity Futures ETF (MWHS)**

-   **Investment objective:** Provide direct exposure to wholesale U.S. electricity prices through electricity futures.
-   **Underlying assets:** ICE electricity futures contracts.
-   **Market exposure:** Competitive U.S. power markets, including **PJM** and **ERCOT**.
-   **Commodity focus:** Tracks electricity itself rather than utility equities, energy companies, or infrastructure debt.
-   **Name origin:** “MWHS” refers to the **megawatt-hour (MWh)**, the standard wholesale unit used to price and trade electricity.
-   **Investment thesis:** Seeks to capitalize on growing electricity demand driven by AI, data centers, electrification, and expanding energy infrastructure.
-   **Expense Ratio:** 0.95%
