# LG Electronics' operating profit soared nearly 150% in the second quarter, reaching a record high

LG Electronics estimated on Tuesday that its operating profit for the second quarter increased by 146.9% year-on-year, reaching 1.57 trillion won (approximately 1.02 billion USD), setting a new historical high.

Revenue grew by 14.9% year-on-year, reaching 23.82 trillion won, also setting a new record. Net profit data has not yet been released.

In the first half of this year, LG Electronics' revenue reached a record 47.56 trillion won, and operating profit also hit a historical high of 3.25 trillion won.

The operating profit for the first half exceeded the company's total operating profit of 2.48 trillion won for the entire last year. The strong performance was attributed to robust sales of high-end home appliances and televisions.

During the peak demand season, air conditioner sales also increased in overseas markets, while the continued growth of the company's automotive parts business helped offset the uncertainties brought about by geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East
