# SK Hynix Considers 'Memory-as-a-Service' Model, Potentially Allowing Customers to Lease Chips Instead of Buying Them

SK Hynix is exploring new ways to sell access to its memory chips, including the so-called "memory-as-a-service" model. This would mean customers could rent storage resources from the South Korean company without having to buy the chips outright. "We can actually offer other business models," said Chey Tae-won, Chairman of the SK Group. "We can become a memory service provider by offering 'memory-as-a-service.' In the future, this is indeed another area we can focus on."
