This potential delay could benefit competitors AMD and Alphabet (Google) by opening opportunities in the high-end AI market. AMD is improving its software ecosystem and chiplet designs for inference, while Alphabet's cost-efficient TPUs offer an attractive alternative. Analysts view both stocks as attractive, noting that capturing even a small share of Nvidia's market would significantly boost their valuations." datetime: "2026-07-13T04:50:52.000Z" locales: - [zh-CN](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/292437506.md) - [en](https://longbridge.com/en/news/292437506.md) - [zh-HK](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/292437506.md) --- # Did Nvidia's 2028 Rack Delay Under Jensen Huang Open a Door for AMD and Google? One of the biggest evolutions of **Nvidia**'s (NVDA +3.90%) business model is that it has gone from just selling graphics processing units (GPUs) to designing full server rack systems to handle specific AI tasks. This has been a key part of CEO Jensen Huang's strategy; however, it could have hit a snag when technology research outfit SemiAnalysis reported that its Kyber NVL144 next-gen AI rack system could be delayed until 2028 due to troubles with manufacturing a crucial circuit board. Nvidia has come out and said its roadmap remains intact, although questions linger. ![AMD and Alphabet logos.](https://imageproxy.pbkrs.com/https://g.foolcdn.com/image//query-b3A9cmVzaXplJnVybD1odHRwczovL2cuZm9vbGNkbi5jb20vZWRpdG9yaWFsL2ltYWdlcy84Nzc3NTYvYW1kZ29vZ2wucG5nJnc9Mzg0MA?x-oss-process=image/auto-orient,1/interlace,1/resize,w_1440,h_1440/quality,q_95/format,jpg) Image source: The Motley Fool. Nvidia has been able to largely keep competitors out of the high end of the market through an aggressive technology roadmap, but physical manufacturing limits could finally be catching up to it. A delay could help open the door for **Advanced Micro Devices** (AMD +2.13%) and **Alphabet** (GOOGL 0.50%) (GOOG 0.34%) to gain a foothold in the high end of the AI market. AMD's biggest challenge is that there has always been a large software ecosystem gap between it and Nvidia. However, AMD has greatly improved its ROCm platform over the past few years, and the move of programmers working higher up the software stack and using open-source AI frameworks like OpenAI's Triton have helped close the gap, especially for inference. As for Alphabet, its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) have become highly regarded AI chips, and with its next generation, it will have chips optimized for both training and inference. A delay in Kyber, meanwhile, could make its cost-efficient TPU offering look more attractive to customers that want a completely optimized system without the risk of delay or the cost of Nvidia's premium platform. AMD has already captured some big GPU deals, and it also looks set to ride the wave with its data center central processing units (CPUs), which become more important with agentic AI. Alphabet, meanwhile, is the most complete AI play, with both world-class chips and AI models, giving it a cost edge. Taking some additional share from Nvidia would just be a bonus that undoubtedly would lift their stocks. I own both AI stocks and think their futures look bright. ### Related Stocks - [AMD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMD.US.md) - [GOOGL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOGL.US.md) - [GOOG.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOG.US.md) - [NVDA.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDA.US.md) - [07788.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/07788.HK.md) - [GGLL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GGLL.US.md) - [NVD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVD.US.md) - [AMDL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMDL.US.md) - [NVDQ.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDQ.US.md) - [NVDD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDD.US.md) - [NVDS.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDS.US.md) - [GGLS.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GGLS.US.md) - [AMDY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMDY.US.md) - [NVDL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDL.US.md) - [AMDW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMDW.US.md) - [NVDY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDY.US.md) - [NVDU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDU.US.md) - [GOOW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOW.US.md) - [AMDD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMDD.US.md) - [GOU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOU.US.md) - [AMDG.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMDG.US.md) - [NVDG.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDG.US.md) - [NVDX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDX.US.md) - [NYYY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NYYY.US.md) - [NVDW.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDW.US.md) - [DAMD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/DAMD.US.md) - [GOOY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOY.US.md) - [GOOP.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOP.US.md) - [MAGX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/MAGX.US.md) - [AMUU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMUU.US.md) - [NVDO.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDO.US.md) - [07388.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/07388.HK.md) - [GOOX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/GOOX.US.md) - [NVDB.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDB.US.md) - [DIPS.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/DIPS.US.md) - [NVYY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVYY.US.md) - [09388.HK](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/09388.HK.md) - [SMH.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SMH.US.md) - [SOXX.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SOXX.US.md) - [SOXL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SOXL.US.md) - [SOXQ.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SOXQ.US.md) - [XSD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/XSD.US.md) - [PSI.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/PSI.US.md) - [FTXL.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/FTXL.US.md) - [NVD.DE](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVD.DE.md) ## Related News & Research - [Nvidia Is Allegedly Delaying Its Kyber Rack-Scale Architecture by More Than 12 Months.
