# Apple acquires part of SigScalr's assets to strengthen its layout in AI infrastructure and developer tools

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Apple (AAPL.US) recently acquired part of the assets of the observability software startup SigScalr and hired some of its employees, further strengthening its technical capabilities in data log management, system monitoring, and developer tools. Apple's stock price rose more than 1% on Monday, reaching a historic high of $323.45 at one point.

According to information disclosed by the European Commission under the Digital Markets Act, Apple acquired part of SigScalr's assets through a subsidiary and extended job offers to some of the company's employees. The transaction was completed on March 12.

SigScalr is the development company behind the open-source observability platform SigLens. SigLens primarily helps developers collect, search, and analyze logs, metrics, and tracing data generated by applications and infrastructure, which can be used to monitor software operation status, troubleshoot system failures, and analyze performance issues.

SigScalr previously positioned SigLens as an efficient alternative to services like Splunk, Datadog (DDOG.US), and Elasticsearch, emphasizing lower resource consumption and higher data processing efficiency.

After the transaction was completed, the SigScalr official website ceased operations, and the main code repository for SigLens on the code hosting platform GitHub has been archived and set to read-only status.

The SigLens development team stated in the archiving announcement that the project will no longer be updated, but the existing code will remain available for developers to reference, copy, or continue development based on it. Meanwhile, the project license has been changed to the less restrictive Apache 2.0 open-source license.

Apple has not disclosed the amount of the transaction or how it plans to integrate SigScalr's technology and personnel. The market expects that the relevant technology may be used to enhance Apple's internal cloud infrastructure, software service monitoring, data analysis, or artificial intelligence system operation management capabilities.

In recent years, as Apple continues to expand its investments in cloud services, artificial intelligence, and software platforms, the importance of system observability has been increasing. Such tools can help enterprises gain real-time insights into the operational status of large-scale computing infrastructure and applications, improving troubleshooting and system maintenance efficiency.

This transaction involved acquiring part of the assets and absorbing core employees rather than a complete acquisition of SigScalr. Analysts believe that this model helps Apple quickly acquire relevant technology and talent while reducing the complexity of integrating a complete company
