The central parity rate of the RMB against the USD was reported at 6.7910, an increase of 80 points from the previous day. The People's Bank of China conducted a 7-day reverse repurchase operation of 426.5 billion RMB, with another 15 billion RMB in reverse repos maturing, resulting in a net injection of 411.5 billion RMB for the day. The three major A-share indices opened mixed, with a half-day decline of 0.1% to 0.4%. The Shanghai Composite Index fell by 3 points or 0.08%, closing at 3,963 points, with a turnover of 809.379 billion RMB. The Shenzhen Component Index dropped by 56 points or 0.38%, closing at 14,868 points, with a turnover of 906.095 billion RMB. The ChiNext Index decreased by 13 points or 0.36%, closing at 3,837 points, with a turnover of 393.581 billion RMB. In the banking sector, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (601398.SH) and China Construction Bank (601939.SH) fell by 0.4% and 0.8%, respectively, while China Merchants Bank (600036.SH) rose by 1.2%. In the insurance sector, China Life (601628.SH) increased by 2.6%, with the company expected to see profits more than double in the first half of the year; China Pacific Insurance (601601.SH) rose by 2.7%.
