# Optical Communication Stocks Fall, AAOI Down 11%, Marvell Down 7%

Optical communication stocks tumbled during regular trading on Wednesday (July 15), with major names across the sector posting significant declines. AAOI (AAOI.US) led the downturn, falling **11%** to $111.16 and hitting an intraday low of $106.10. Marvell (MRVL.US) dropped **7%** to $206.22, while Lumentum (LITE.US) declined **7%** to $755.93. Axcelis Technologies (AXTI.US) slipped **7%** to $53.61, Corning (GLW.US) fell **7%** to $175.33, and Coherent (COHR.US) decreased **4%** to $298.53. Nokia (NOK.US) lost **4%** to $11.20, and POET (POET.US) dropped **4%** to $8.42. Among derivative ETFs, AAOX plunged over 22%, MVLL fell nearly 15%, LITX dropped more than 14%, while LITZ bucked the trend with a nearly 15% gain.

On the trading front, the optical communication sector faced broad profit-taking pressure. Earlier rallies driven by AI infrastructure demand had pushed optical module concepts to elevated levels, leaving the sector vulnerable to a pullback. Today's market sentiment turned cautious as capital rotated out of high-flying technology names. Analysts note that while the long-term investment thesis for AI infrastructure remains intact, near-term valuation concerns prompted investors to lock in gains.
