The companies are launching America's Consortium for Electric Skyways, or ACES. The planned network will serve airports and vertiports in major metropolitan areas, including locations in California, Texas, Florida, and New York.

BETA will be in charge of supplying its electric aircraft charging equipment, which uses the Combined Charging Standard. This open standard allows aircraft from different manufacturers to use the same chargers.

Archer plans to use the network for passenger air taxi services, while BETA's customers could use it for cargo and medical transportation.

Macquarie Capital will advise the consortium and help arrange the capital needed to acquire sites and fund construction. A big plus is the reduced infrastructure costs, as several aircraft operators and airport vehicles would use the same charging facilities.

On Friday, ACHR stock dropped 1.11% to close at $4.44.
