The late clinical-stage biotechnology business is moving the intravenously administered Staphylococcus aureus multi-phage product toward a pivotal Phase 3 superiority study set to begin in the second half of 2026. The upcoming trial is designed to support a future Biologics License Application for the treatment of complicated bacteremia caused by methicillin-sensitive (MSSA) or methicillin-resistant (MRSA) strains. **Read Also: Why UnitedHealth Can't Stop Saying One Word: 'Restless'** ## Regulatory Alignment And Operational Readiness Armata said it submitted the complete Phase 3 protocol to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The filing also included responses to all feedback from the agency’s End-of-Phase 2 meeting. These submissions resolved inquiries across clinical, regulatory, and chemistry, manufacturing, and controls parameters. Operationally, the company concluded four engineering runs for the candidate at its in-house cGMP facility located in Los Angeles, California. Manufacturing clinical trial material at this facility serves as the next planned step to prepare for late-stage clinical evaluation. ## Clinical Background And Government Backing AP-SA02 is being developed as an adjunct treatment combined with best available antibiotic therapy. The multi-phage cocktail has earned Qualified Infectious Disease Product and Fast Track designations from regulatory authorities. Armata previously reported positive safety, tolerability and efficacy data from its Phase 1b/2a diSArm study. The company presented those results during a late-breaking oral session at IDWeek 2025. To assist with trial readiness, the company secured a $2.5 million continuation award from the U.S. Department of Defense in June. The milestone brings cumulative funding under the award to $28.7 million. Management continues active dialogue with defense officials regarding potential expanded support for trial execution while simultaneously assessing additional external funding pathways. ## Executive Leadership Update Armata also promoted **David House** to chief financial officer. He previously served as senior vice president of finance and principal financial officer since August 2024. **ARMP Stock Price Activity**: Armata Pharmaceuticals shares were up 10.27% at $4.97 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data. *Image via Shutterstock* **Read Also: AMD Rises After Microsoft's Helios Win: Is Nvidia Finally Facing Real Competition?** ### Related Stocks - [ARMP.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/ARMP.US.md) - [UNH.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/UNH.US.md) - [MSFT.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/MSFT.US.md) - [AMD.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AMD.US.md) - [NVDA.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDA.US.md) - [NVD.DE](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVD.DE.md) ## Related News & Research - [Armata Advances AP-SA02 Toward Phase 3 Trial Launch](https://longbridge.com/en/news/293209036.md) - [Armata Shares Surge on Progress Toward Late-Stage Trial of Superbug Treatment](https://longbridge.com/en/news/293234406.md) - [Armata Pharmaceuticals receives additional USD 2.5 million DoD funding for AP-SA02 program](https://longbridge.com/en/news/290552106.md) - [Armata swings to FY26 Q2 net income of $74.14 million; operating loss widens to $10.31 million](https://longbridge.com/en/news/295703083.md) - [07:00 ETArmata Pharmaceuticals Announces Structural Biology Publication in "Communications Biology"](https://longbridge.com/en/news/285060911.md) --- > **Disclaimer: This article is for reference only and does not constitute any investment advice.**
