# China's Skyworth to Launch Home AI Computing Terminals, Founder Says

(Yicai) July 24 -- Skyworth Group is deploying a whole-house intelligence system and will launch home artificial intelligence computing terminals, with new energy and AI becoming major new growth points, according to the founder of the Chinese consumer electronics giant.

Every family will have AI computing terminals in the AI era, which will be possible thanks to the strong development of Chinese chips, including Huawei Technologies' Ascend series and those from Cambricon Technologies, Huang Hongsheng said in a recent interview with Yicai. Skyworth plans to gradually release new products for home computing terminals this year, he added.

Skyworth set-top boxes have allied with global telecommunications and broadcasting operators, accumulating one billion users, Huang pointed out, adding that these users will need to enhance their computing power and token applications, which creates opportunities.

Shenzhen-based Skyworth is incubating multiple tech innovation subsidiaries, such as brain-computer interface unit Pengnao Technology, Huang said. The hope is to incubate more innovative companies, implement various applications in the AI era, and expand the user base, he stressed.

Regarding the television business, Huang pointed out that Skyworth acquired the European and North American operating rights of Panasonic this year after getting the North American operating rights of Philips last year. The company can benefit from users' trade-ins by utilizing new technologies such as AI connections, he noted.

Skyworth is expanding its home and commercial photovoltaic businesses in Southeast Asia, including in Thailand, Myanmar, and Vietnam, as well as in Europe, Africa, and South America, Huang said. The overseas revenue of the firm's PV unit will likely double this year, he added.

Due to the overcapacity of silicon rods, silicon materials, and solar cells in the upstream of the PV industry, Skyworth is focusing on the user end and extending to inverters, energy storage, battery modules, and solar cells, he pointed out. Electricity is becoming increasingly expensive worldwide, while the cost of solar power generation is falling, so there is a long-term demand in the trade-in market, he stressed.
