Stephanie Link, chief investment strategist, head of investment solutions and equity portfolio manager at Hightower Advisors, said she likes International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM).

Lending support to her choice, IBM, on July 22, reported second-quarter revenue of $17.16 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $16.86 billion, according to Benzinga Pro. The company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $2.93 per share, beating analyst estimates of $2.86 per share.

Kevin Simpson, Capital Wealth Planning founder and CIO, said AI is making Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) search business more valuable.

On the earnings front, Alphabet, on July 22, posted second-quarter revenue of approximately $119.80 billion, beating analyst estimates of $116.82 billion, according to Benzinga Pro. The Google parent company reported second-quarter earnings of $9.11 per share, which may not compare to estimates. Alphabet said earnings were up 294% year-over-year.

Jim Lebenthal, partner and chief market strategist at Cerity Partners, recommended Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) ahead of quarterly earnings.

Amazon will release earnings results for the second quarter, after the closing bell on Thursday, July 30. Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings of $1.82 per share on revenue of $195.97 billion.

Price Action:

  • Goldman Sachs Nasdaq-100 Premium Income ETF fell 1.1% on Friday.
  • IBM shares rose 3.7% to settle at $214.19 during the session.
  • Alphabet shares gained 0.7% to close at $319.74 on Friday.
