Ford Q2 Preview: Stock Outshines Tesla, GM in 2026 — Can Earnings Fuel the Trend?

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Ford Motor is set to report Q2 earnings, with analysts expecting revenue of $45.26 billion and EPS of 34 cents. The stock has outperformed GM and Tesla in 2026, driven by a strategic shift away from unprofitable EVs toward low-cost vehicles and improved margins. While US deliveries fell 10%, operating profits have risen due to reduced EV losses. Analysts have recently raised price targets, reflecting optimism about Ford's renewed focus on profitability.

Automotive giant Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) looks to keep momentum going when the company reports second-quarter financial results Tuesday after market close.

Here are the earnings estimates, analyst ratings and key items to watch.

Ford Q2 Earnings Estimates

Analysts expect Ford to report second-quarter revenuer of $45.26 billion, down from $46.94 billion in last year’s second quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in five straight quarters and in eight of the last 10 quarters overall.

Analysts expect Ford to report earnings of 34 cents per share, down from 37 cents per share in last year’s second quarter.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share of seven of the last 10 quarters, including the most recently reported first quarter.

Ford Analyst Ratings and Price Targets

Here are some of the most recent analyst ratings on Ford stock and their price targets:

  • Jefferies: Upgraded from Hold to Buy, raised price target from $15 to $18
  • JPMorgan: Maintained Overweight rating, raised price target from $15 to $16
  • BNP Paribas: Maintained Neutral rating, raised price target from $13 to $14
  • Barclays: Maintained Equal-Weight rating, raised price target from $13 to $14

Key Items to Watch

Ford previously reported second-quarter deliveries of 522,811 vehicles in the United States, down 10% year-over-year. Electric vehicle unit sales fell 40.7% year-over-year to 9,746 units.

This comes as Ford has exited production of many electric vehicles as it resets its plans to launch a $30,000 electric pickup truck with a larger focus on low-cost vehicles and profitability.

Ford has offered minimal details on this new electric vehicle, beyond the targeted price point and a 2027 launch date.

With Ford offering less electric vehicles for sale, operating profits and margins have improved with fewer losses in the Ford EV segment.

Ford stock hit all-time highs in May and while the stock has fallen from those levels, the automaker is outperforming peers.

Ford stock is up 8.3% year-to-date in 2026. That is outperforming both General Motors (NYSE:GM) at +5.7% and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) at -29.6%.

The renewed focus on Ford’s profitability and resetting of the EV business is winning over investors and analysts. Ford’s results on Tuesday could see the stock further distance itself from Tesla and General Motors or could see GM take the crown for 2026 year-to-date gains.

Ford Stock Price Action

Ford stock is up 0.7% to $14.45 on Monday versus a 52-week trading range of $10.68 to $17.78.
