# CN Churning out Own DUV Lithography Machines, To Deliver to SMIC/ HUA HONG GRACE This Yr: Wire

China started manufacturing home-grown immersion DUV lithography machines, a critical chipmaking equipment segment that has long been dominated by ASML (ASML.US) , The Information reported.

The domestic DUV systems are foreseen to be delivered this year to customers including SMIC (00981.HK) 0.000 (0.000%) Short selling $777.78M; Ratio 14.436% , HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) 0.000 (0.000%) Short selling $1.20B; Ratio 22.253% and CXMT (688825.SH) 0.000 (0.000%) .

Following the news, shares of ASML dived more than 8% overnight (27th) and still closed down nearly 6%. China's latest breakthrough may challenge ASML's market position, although the equipment still lags behind in system performance and reliability and requires further testing before mass production. 

Domestic DUV output is projected to be around five units this year, with the production target increasing to about 20 units next year.
