Source: Mitsubishi Motors Mitsubishi is bringing a fully electric vehicle back to North America for the first time in over a decade, and it’s calling the 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV “all-new.” It isn’t. The Eclipse Sportback is a rebadged next-generation Nissan Leaf, sourced from Mitsubishi’s Alliance partner and reskinned with new bumpers and lights. Mitsubishi confirmed the vehicle in a press release, describing it as “the global debut of an all-new fully electric vehicle” that will launch across the US and Canada in late summer or early fall 2026, sold through roughly 300 dealer partners in the US. The company is upfront about where it comes from, at least. The release says the Eclipse Sportback EV is “sourced from Mitsubishi Motors’ Alliance partner Nissan Motor Co, based on the next-generation Nissan LEAF.” So “all-new” is doing a lot of work here. ### Related Stocks - [NSANY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NSANY.US.md) - [7201.JP](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/7201.JP.md) - [7211.JP](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/7211.JP.md) ## Related News & Research - [Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: new battery options deliver up to 650 km range](https://longbridge.com/en/news/298571296.md) - [Nissan reorganizes Japan manufacturing footprint, shifts vehicle production among plants](https://longbridge.com/en/news/298547794.md) - [Volvo kills off another EV for the US, but it has a replacement coming in 2027](https://longbridge.com/en/news/298614935.md) - [EV sales are booming in Europe – and plunging in North America](https://longbridge.com/en/news/298654488.md) - [EVs now 33% cheaper to run than gasoline vehicles](https://longbridge.com/en/news/298168078.md) --- > **Disclaimer: This article is for reference only and does not constitute any investment advice.**
